When to add page numbers

Contracts that get cited in negotiations, manuscripts that get reviewed, manuals that get printed — anything where “see page 12” should mean something. Numbering makes long documents navigable in print and on screen.

The stamping happens in your browser, so numbering confidential drafts adds no exposure.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start numbering from a specific page or number?

Yes. Set the starting number to anything (e.g. 3), and optionally skip the first pages — perfect for title pages that shouldn't count.

Which number formats are supported?

Three: plain (1), count (1 of N), and labeled (Page 1 of N). Position is a free choice of nine slots on the page.

Will numbers collide with existing content?

Numbers sit in the page margin. If your document prints to the very edge, increase the margin setting to keep the stamp clear of content.

Can I number only part of the document?

Yes — combine “skip first pages” with a custom start number to begin stamping wherever the main content begins.

Does numbering change the original text or layout?

No. Existing content is preserved exactly; numbers are drawn on top as a separate layer in the margin.

Is my document uploaded to add numbers?

No. Numbering is rendered locally in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
