Frequently asked questions
Which kinds of forms are supported?
Standard AcroForm PDFs: text fields, checkboxes, radio groups and dropdowns. XFA dynamic forms (some government systems) are detected and reported as unsupported.
What does flatten do?
Flattening bakes your answers permanently into the page, so nobody can edit or clear them afterwards. Leave it off if the recipient still needs to fill other fields.
Do existing values in the form survive?
Yes. Fields that already contain values load them, and anything you don't change is written back untouched.
My form looks like fields but nothing is detected.
Then the PDF is probably a flat scan — the fields are just part of the image. You can still add text on top with our watermark or page-number tools, or sign it.
Can I fill forms that are password-protected?
Remove the password first with our Unlock PDF tool, then fill the unlocked copy.
Is my form uploaded anywhere?
