What is PDF/A?
An ISO standard (ISO 19005) for long-term archiving. PDF/A files are self-contained: no scripts, no encryption, no reliance on external content, so they render the same far into the future.
Which PDF/A version does this produce?
PDF/A-2b. Level b (basic) guarantees visual fidelity; version 2 is the widely adopted middle ground that permits transparency and modern image compression.
What's the difference between the two modes?
Keep text preserves the original pages and writes the PDF/A identification — but fonts not embedded in your source stay that way, and strict validators may reject the file. Rasterize re-encodes each page as an image, eliminating font and script issues for the best validation odds, at the cost of selectable text.
Is the output guaranteed to pass PDF/A validation?
Rasterize mode produces the most conformant files this tool can make, but no converter can absolutely guarantee a pass on every validator. For regulated archives, run the result through a validator such as veraPDF before submitting.
Does it run on scanned PDFs?
Yes. Scans are already images, so rasterize mode re-encodes them cleanly; text mode also works and typically has no font issues since scans carry no live text.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
