How to repair a damaged PDF in 3 steps

Bring broken downloads and corrupted files back to life — as much as the data that survived allows.

1

Upload the damaged PDF

Drop the file in the box above — it never leaves your device.

2

Run the repair

Click Repair PDF. Three recovery passes run automatically, falling back to stronger salvage only when needed.

3

Review and download

Read the repair report — pages detected, pages recovered, actions taken — then download the result.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of damage can be repaired?

Junk before the PDF header, broken cross-reference tables, and truncated files. The tool also produces a clean rebuild for files that are merely structurally untidy.

What if only some pages survived?

Every page that can still be read is recovered — the report tells you exactly how many were detected versus recovered, so a partial result is never a surprise.

Will the repaired file keep selectable text?

Usually yes — the first pass rebuilds the document losslessly. Only when the structure is too damaged does the tool fall back to re-rendering pages as images, which the report states plainly.

Can it repair an encrypted PDF?

Encryption isn't damage. Remove the password with our Unlock PDF tool first, then repair the unlocked copy if it still has issues.

Is every damaged file recoverable?

No. If the readable data is gone — heavily overwritten or zeroed files — nothing can bring it back. The tool tells you clearly when recovery isn't possible instead of producing an empty file.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. All recovery passes run entirely in your browser.
