How to split a PDF file in 3 steps

Cut one long PDF into exactly the pieces you need — by page ranges, fixed chunks, or single pages — without uploading anything anywhere.

1

Upload your PDF

Drag your document into the box above. It opens instantly in your browser — nothing is sent to a server.

2

Choose how to split

Type page ranges like 1-3,5, split at fixed intervals, or explode every page into its own file.

3

Download the results

Click Split PDF. Your files are packed into a ZIP and download immediately, ready to share.

Why split PDFs with AmiPDF

The splitter that respects both your document and your privacy.

Private by design

Processing happens entirely inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or shared — ever.

No signup, no watermark

No account, no email, no limits. Your output comes out exactly as your files went in.

Three split modes

Custom ranges, fixed intervals, or one-file-per-page — cover every splitting scenario without re-uploading.

Works on any device

The same fast experience on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS — no installation.

When to split a PDF

Send someone only the pages they need. Split a 40-page contract into signature pages and appendix, or carve one chapter out of a report for a teammate.

Because files are processed on your device, splitting confidential documents — legal filings, medical records, IDs — never exposes them to a third-party server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a PDF into individual pages?

Choose the “Every page” mode and click Split PDF. You get one file per page, bundled in a single ZIP download.

Can I split by custom page ranges?

Yes. Type ranges in the box, separated by commas — for example 1-3,5,8-12. Each range becomes its own output file, in the order you typed them.

Does splitting a PDF reduce its quality?

No. Pages are copied losslessly from the source document. Text stays selectable, fonts and images are untouched.

Is there a file size or page limit?

No fixed limit. Splitting runs locally in your browser, so the practical ceiling is your device memory — files up to a few hundred MB work fine on most computers.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Encrypted files must be unlocked first. Run your document through the free Unlock PDF tool with your password, then split the unlocked copy.

Why do I get a ZIP file instead of one PDF?

Splitting produces multiple PDFs, so they are bundled into one ZIP for a single download. Every modern system opens ZIP files natively.
