Frequently asked questions
How many files can I add to the workspace?
Add as many files as you like, up to 50 MB each and 500 pages per session. Extra pages are simply rejected with a notice, so nothing fails silently.
Can I mix PDFs and images in one export?
Yes. PDFs, images and converted Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) all become pages in one timeline, and everything exports as one document.
Does the workspace upload my files?
Mostly no. Thumbnails, edits and the final PDF are all generated in your browser. The two exceptions are clearly marked: importing Office documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or a web page URL converts them to PDF on our server — you confirm first, converted files are labeled, and the server copies are auto-deleted. Everything else never leaves your device.
Can I undo a mistake?
Yes. The workspace keeps 50 steps of history — press Ctrl+Z (Mac: Cmd+Z) to undo, and Ctrl+Y or Ctrl+Shift+Z (Mac: Cmd+Shift+Z or Cmd+Y) to redo.
Can I split or number pages inside the workspace?
Yes. Split by ranges (like 1-3,5,8-) or every N pages, and add page numbers with a live preview — no second tool needed.
Is the workspace really free and unlimited?
Yes. No signup, no watermark, no daily task count. The only limits are the 50 MB per file and 500 pages per session, which protect your browser's memory.
What if a file is damaged or password-protected?
Every file is checked as you add it. A password-protected PDF can't join the workspace — unlock it first with the Unlock PDF tool. A file that can't be read is named in a clear notice, and your other files keep working. Nothing fails silently.
Does the workspace work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the processing engines are cached on your device, so you can switch off Wi-Fi and still add, organize and export. Open the Network panel (F12) while you work — you won't see a single file request.
What does the export keep?
Page content, annotations such as highlights, internal and external links, and filled form values all carry over, and document properties (title, author) are taken from your first PDF. Bookmarks and the editable form registry don't carry over — finish form editing before merging.
I closed the tab by mistake - is my work lost?
No. The workspace keeps a local draft in your browser (IndexedDB, on this device only). Reopen the page and you'll be offered to resume - files, page order, and up to 50 undo steps come back. Drafts above 200 MB are not stored, and leaving the workspace with the back button clears the draft.
