Protect PDF adds an open password with modern encryption, and optionally restricts printing and copying — the standard setup for contracts, invoices, and anything circulating beyond the people who should read it.
Unlock PDF is the legitimate reverse: if you have the rightful password, it removes the open password and the permission restrictions together, giving you back a fully usable file. It is honestly not a cracker — files without the correct password stay locked, as they should.
Redact PDF removes content permanently rather than hiding it. Search for a word or phrase to mark every match at once, or draw boxes by hand; marked pages are flattened so the text beneath is destroyed, not covered — the difference between a black highlight and actual redaction.
